We are now better equipped than in the past to create hairlines that meet high expectations. Partly this is due to the use of smaller, more natural-looking follicular unit grafts (FUs) in the hairline area. FUs have given us the opportunity to brush thinner to create a hairline. Equally important, however, has been a better understanding and recognition of the visual features that make up normal hairlines. Simply using FUs without a deliberate attempt to reproduce these properties does not guarantee a normal hairline. Another simple method is that the patient is asked to raise his eyebrows. Just above the forehead wrinkles gives roughly FHL. (It is 2 fingers above the raised eyebrow.)
